you know what…i am not interested in takes that flatten the racial element of this. i’m not interested in takes from white people that emphasize the ideological or partisan divide. this is about institutions that accommodate white grievance. that allow white violence and white terrorism; that RELY on it to function. and that will always make room for white people to kill as many people and be as destructive as possible in defense of white supremacy. this is no time to mince words about that
“we all know why” just say it’s because they’re white. say it out loud with your whole entire chest. trump supporters aren’t being stopped from storming government buildings because THEY! ARE! ALL! WHITE! that’s it. just say it.
Don’t forget that it isn’t just that the rioters are white, it’s that the COPS are white, are right-wingers, are tr*mp supporters. The cops are letting the rioters in. The cops are moving the barricades for the rioters. The cops are literally taking selfies with them. It is an inside job. The cops are part of it.
I will never forget the year the police shot rubber bullets & teargas at children & journalists & medics, and then welcomed a mob of white terrorists into the Capitol building. The entire U.S. government should be on trial for crimes against humanity
So the Prom is far from perfect and queer girl experiences are never the same but I do think, as a unit, we can agree that when you were in your worst teen moments of angst and misery having Nicole Kidman in fishnets licking ice cream off her fingers while she lounges next to you in bed and offers to be your ride or die would have made everything that little bit better.
